The latest headlines involve OUr own MC Walker as Olentangy Orange has been fined $10,000 by the OHSAA. Orange won the DI state title in football last fall and Walker played no small part in their title win. The investigation and fine center on Walker's transfer from Westerville North to Orange before his senior season. Back in my day, Portsmouth High School had to forfeit a lot of games because a star player's father had been given a job at local company in order to incentivize a move from another town to Portsmouth. I think that kind of thing goes on a lot today without much notice. Why is Walker and O.O. begin fingered here. I don't get it. There are 13 exceptions to the transfer rules, if you meet one of the 13 you are eligible immediately. These 13 are all codified in the ORC concerning school choice, and so far have withstood court challenges.
